Embracing Evolution: Charging Forward with NACS

June 16, 2023

In the rapidly emerging world of electric vehicles, innovation and change are the only constants.

Recent headlines echo this, with Ford and General Motors announcing plans to pivot from the widely adopted CCS connector to adopt the Tesla-founded North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector starting in 2025.

This pivot is reverberating across the industry, with charging manufacturers, networks, and drivers all wondering about the impact this will have.

For us at Hypercharge, this development doesn’t ruffle our feathers in the least – in fact we welcome it. Here, we have many employees who drive Teslas as their vehicle of choice along with many other brands and use Hypercharge charging stations every day. To them, it doesn’t matter whether the charger has a NACS, CCS, J1772, or any other connector. What matters most is not what’s at the end of the cable, but the assurance that when they plug in their vehicle, it will charge the vehicle – reliably and efficiently, every single time.

This emphasis on reliability has been the cornerstone of our approach at Hypercharge from day one and the connector type is just one detail.

What fuels our journey, and those of countless EV drivers everywhere, is the mass availability of reliable EV charging infrastructure. The transition to zero-emission vehicles will simply not happen without it. Our stations are not just high-tech gadgets, they’re mission-critical for our users, powering their journeys day in and day out.

With a potential industry shift to the NACS standard on the horizon, we’re ready to innovate to support all industry standards through our broad range of hardware products and digital services. At the same time, and most importantly, we remain steadfast in our commitment to provide reliable managed charging solutions. Because at the end of the day, we’re not just about powering vehicles, we’re about empowering people to get where they need to go.
