Saskatchewan municipalities, businesses, and community organizations now have access to $850,000 in new funding through the Municipal Electric Vehicle Initiative (MEVi) to accelerate the installation of EV charging stations across the province.
Delivered by Eco-West Canada in partnership with the Municipal Eco-Action Centre and partially funded by the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA), MEVi aims to significantly bolster the EV charging infrastructure network, addressing Saskatchewan’s high per-capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, currently the highest of any province in Canada.
With transportation responsible for approximately 15% of the province’s total emissions, enhancing EV infrastructure is essential to meeting Canada’s mandatory target of zero emissions for all new light-duty cars and passenger trucks by 2035.
