Introducing OnCurb: Earn Revenue from Public EV Charging

September 9, 2026
Hcblog Introducingoncurb

Transform parking spaces near your building into revenue-earning opportunities while expanding access to electric vehicle charging in your community.

Hypercharge’s new OnCurb program makes public curbside charging available in neighbourhoods with overnight street parking, including residential permit zones. Site hosts earn a share of charging fees and Hypercharge takes care of everything else, from installation and operation to all capitol costs.

In this post, we explore why building owners, strata boards and condo corporations, and property managers are choosing Hypercharge as their curbside charging partner.

Hypercharge Pro Tip: OnCurb isn’t just for private business. It also supports school boards, community organizations, municipalities, and other public partners looking to expand charging access.

OnCurb Makes It Easy

OnCurb hosts supply the power for curbside chargers under an energy agreement with an adjacent building. Hypercharge handles the rest, fully funding and managing all charging equipment, infrastructure, installation, and ongoing operations.

Typically, hosts start with two charging spaces, depending on local demand and municipal approval. Once a charger goes live, the host receives a portion of the fees paid by drivers to use the chargers though OnCurb’s revenue participation model.

Low Effort, Big Rewards

Since 2021, Hypercharge has worked extensively with stratas, condo corporations, and multi-unit residential buildings, helping them navigate installation, operations, and long‑term planning. OnCurb offers many of the benefits of Hypercharge’s Charging-as-a-Service, with an important distinction: the chargers are installed on public roads. That means site hosts can bring EV charging to the community without dedicated parking spaces or expand their charging activities by taking it to the streets.

OnCurb is a great fit if you want to:

  • Add EV charging on or near your property without capital or operational burdens
  • Create a new source of revenue from EV charging
  • Offer a community amenity to local residents, visitors, workers, and drivers

Choose Charging-as-a-Service if you:

  • Have space on a property where chargers can be installed and operated
  • Want EV charging without the upfront costs or ongoing financial commitment
  • Prefer to outsource the design, installation, operations, and maintenance of EV chargers

Choose direct ownership if you:

  • Prefer full ownership and control of your EV charging infrastructure
  • Have the capital to invest in equipment, installation, and ongoing maintenance
  • Want to retain all charging revenue
  • Are prepared to manage charger operations and maintenance over the long term

Hypercharge Handles All Site Upgrades

Our team assesses each potential charging site to determine whether our energy‑management solutions can support the installation while safeguarding the building’s existing needs.

This may include technology that ensures the building’s essential loads are covered before any energy is delivered to the charging stations, allowing OnCurb chargers to operate safely and reliably without compromising your day‑to‑day electrical requirements.

Hypercharge fully covers any electrical upgrades required by an approved site, be that the panel, conduit, or wiring.

Getting Started Is Simple

Step 1: The first step to joining OnCurb is introducing us to your property by submitting a few quick details, such as your property type, location, and curbside conditions.

Step 2: Next, Hypercharge reviews the site and assesses whether the location is a strong candidate for curbside charging, including the likelihood of municipal approval.

Step 3: From there, the project moves into the local licensing phase. Municipalities may require right‑of‑way permissions or related approvals, a process that Hypercharge manages from start to finish.

Step 4: Installation begins soon after approvals are secured. Hypercharge designs, installs, and activates the charging infrastructure, adding your site to the Hypercharge network.

Step 5: Once the location is online, drivers can charge at your curbside stations as they might any other public Hypercharge site.

Step 6: Your property starts earning revenue, and as charging activity increases, your revenue grows with it.

Hypercharge Pro Tip: Drivers pay for charging through the Hypercharge Driver Mobile app and other payment options as available.
